Veith - 922: Without Spot or Wrinkle (DVD)
Walter VeithDoes Ephesians 5:27 intimidate you? “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” How can we present ourselves to our Lord without spot or wrinkle? Jesus had no flaw, He was made perfect through suffering. Do we need to endure similar trials and tribulations? How much of our personalities and hearts must we change and transform in order to honor Him?
Walter Veith reviews the story of betrayal in Genesis concerning Joseph and his brothers. These men were liars, betrayers, sexually immoral, and depicted many different sins. These brothers certainly had many spots and wrinkles. However, even with all these flaws and sins, they found redemption and forgiveness. If those who have committed the worst acts of sin can find mercy, can God forgive us after all of our transgressions? We can look to this story as a parallel to our own lives. Even with all our shortcomings, God still saves us with His mercy and grace. Veith discusses how all things are made right through God in the fullness of time so long as we repent and trust in God, regardless of our spots and wrinkles.
